I've been attending Pastor Ahu's church for over a year now. I loved the way this personalized him and his family for me. The writing, the scriptures, the pain, struggle and final triumph is a must read for believers and unbelievers. Easy to read and understand. Once I began reading it I couldn't put it down. When I first picked up this book. I realized the encouragement this book could provide to those who need a glimer of hope. We each have moments in our lives when we need to be reassured of hope that remains. Regardless of any situation we face, hope remains.
This book gives us pause as we reflect on the very dark moments in our life. Yet through it all, God reigns and gives us Hope!
I highly recommend this book to all who need a good word. Then pass it on to others who need the same encouragement!
As I read this book, as I follow his step of overcoming a rare type of leukemia, I could remind myself that those unexpected cruel life's challenges that we only wish to avoid, can turn into the best gift ever given to us (although we would never feel that way in the midst of it). I felt like this daunting diagnosis to the author of this book, the Judgde-turned-Pastor, was the test to his "spiritual muscle." And he passed the test by being forced to go over all contents of his spirituality, human emotion and physical pain, both old and new.
I could only accompany his relentless journey vicariously through his words, but after finishing this book, I could check into my hope inside of me and able to feel that I too, can accept life's challenges as a precious gift.
This book brought so much hope in my life when I needed it most! Thank you Pastor Elwin P. Ahu for sharing your experiences. Be Still, Faith to Move Forward (especially the hospital neighbor part) and Defeating Doubt was my favorite parts in the book. Although all of the book was extraodinarily orchestrated. I enjoyed how relevant the scriptures were tied into the content. This provided a roadmap for me to follow and could relate to my life currently. I now have an additional resource I can bring a long with me to know how Good my God is! Very well written. Thank you for taking time out of your experience with all the blood being drawn at the crack of dawn, spending day after day in the hospital and even in your busy days you chose to bless us with your life experiences, easy to follow along story, and action questions we can use. Thank you!!
